Leadership and Cycling

My Cycling Journey

In August 2020 I began cycling for fun, fitness, and to be outdoors during the Covid-19 pandemic. I did not have a training plan nor a specific goal. Two months later, after attending my first-time trial as a participant and not finishing the route due to a rainstorm, I decided to start working with a personal coach and invested in a brand new Giant Anthem bicycle. After one year, looking at my Strava statistics, I had covered more than 4,000 kilometers (2,485 miles) on two wheels. Cycling has become an almost daily routine; time permitting, I train twice per week during the week with a long ride on the weekend.

Why I Ride

Cycling gives me clarity, the opportunity to think big picture and create time for active thinking.

It has helped me prioritize my life, making better decisions about what I do and where I go. I’m able to see things from different perspectives, think about problems, and come up with creative solutions. Riding my bike helps me when I want to relax, but also when I want to plan my future or solve problems.

All the time spent in the saddle helps me to focus on what’s most important for me and my goals, which is why biking has become part of my daily routine.

Choose to ride. Cycling is good for the soul
